Samsung strikes 1st network solutions deal in Canada

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is entering Canada's telecom infrastructure market after being selected by local mobile operator Videotron Ltd. as a network solutions supplier.

Under the deal, Samsung will supply 4G LTE-Advanced and 5G radio access networks solutions to Videotron, which plans to launch commercial LTE-A and 5G services in late 2020.

Among 4G LTE-A solutions that the South Korean company will deliver, include massive MIMO and dual-band base stations, across Quebec and Ottawa beginning early 2020. Samsung will also provide 5G solutions compatible with 3.5 GHz and 28 GHz spectrum bands.

Videotron, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quebecor Media Inc., is an integrated communications company engaged in cable TV, interactive multimedia development, internet access, cable telephone and mobile telephone services.
