CFPB names members of Taskforce on Federal Consumer Financial Law

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said J. Howard Beales III, Thomas Durkin, L. Jean Noonan and Todd Zywicki will serve on the Taskforce on Federal Consumer Financial Law, which will examine the existing legal and regulatory environment facing consumers and financial services providers.

Beales is a former director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the Federal Trade Commission, while Durkin is a retired senior economist at the Federal Reserve Board. Noonan is a partner at Hudson Cook, former general counsel at the Farm Credit Administration, and former associate director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection's Credit Practice at the FTC. Zywicki is a former executive director of the George Mason University Law and Economics Center.

Zywicki will serve as the chair and Matt Cameron will serve as staff director of the Taskforce.
