Report: Apple to launch streaming service in November, allots $6B on originals

Apple Inc. is allocating about $6 billion for original content on its streaming platform Apple TV+, London's Financial Times reported, citing sources.

The total commitment is an increase from the earlier plan to use $1 billion to commission original content over its first year.

Apple has yet to reveal the pricing for the streaming service but is considering a monthly subscription fee of $9.99, Bloomberg News reported. Apple TV+ is targeting a November launch, as part of a goal to earn $50 billion in services revenue by 2020.

The company has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on original drama series "The Morning Show," which could reportedly eclipse the price per episode spending on HBO's "Game of Thrones." Apple released the second trailer for the show on YouTube on Aug. 19.

Apple TV+ will be offered within the Apple TV app, which was launched in May.
