Hewlett Packard Enterprise CEO to step down

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. said Nov. 21 that Meg Whitman is stepping down as CEO, effective Feb. 1, 2018.

Antonio Neri, who was appointed president in June, will also take over the CEO role following Whitman's exit.

Whitman will remain on the Hewlett Packard Enterprise board of directors.

Her decision follows the company's announcement of its earnings forecast, which shows that it missed analysts' estimates in the fiscal first quarter and and fell short of revenue projections for the fiscal fourth quarter, Bloomberg News reported Nov. 21.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise's server business is also anticipated to see some declines in 2018.
