FirstEnergy shareholders reject governance proposals

FirstEnergy Corp. shareholders rejected several governance proposals during the company's annual meeting.

Proposals to amend the company's governing documents to replace existing supermajority voting requirements with a majority threshold, to implement majority voting for uncontested director elections and to implement proxy access each failed to receive the requisite vote, according to a May 15 news release.

A nonbinding proposal requesting a reduction in the threshold to call special shareholder meetings also failed to receive enough votes.
