Dentists Insurance signs letter of intent to acquire 3 insurers

Dentists InsuranceCo. signed a letter of intent to buy three dentist insurance businessesowned by Oregon-based Moda Inc.

Dentists Insurance plans to acquire Dentists Benefits Insurance Co., Northwest Dentists Insurance Co. and Dentists Benefits Corp.,according to a news release.

The deal would add more than 6,600 policyholders to DentistsInsurance. Dentists Benefits Insurance offers professionalliability and business insurance to dentists in Alaska, Arizona, Montana, Oregon,Tennessee and Washington. Northwest Dentists provides professional and general liabilityto clients in Idaho and Washington, while Dentists Benefits Corp. is an agency thatadministers Northwest Dentists and Dentists Benefits Insurance's products.

The letter of intent is subject to Dentists Insurance's due diligence,a final agreement with Moda and regulatory approval.

Dentists Insurance is a subsidiary of the California Dental Association.The Moda group includes Moda HealthPlan Inc.
