Indian Hotels Co. Ltd. is bidding for three hotels in New Delhi that were separately put on the block by the New Delhi Municipality Council, Mint reported.
The Mumbai hospitality company is looking to buy the 85-room The Connaught hotel within New Delhi's Connaught Place precinct, the 38-room Asian International Hotel at Janpath and The Taj Mahal hotel on Mansingh Road.
While Indian Hotels emerged as the sole bidder for The Taj Mahal hotel, it is in competition with Sarovar Hotels Ltd. and Byke Hotels and Resorts for The Connaught and with Byke Hotels and Bloom Hotel for the Asian International Hotel, the publication noted, citing unnamed sources.
A company spokesperson confirmed Indian Hotels' submission of bids for both the Asian International Hotel and The Connaught hotels, the report added.
Lackluster response to the auction for The Taj Mahal hotel will likely delay the sale of the property, according to the report. Meanwhile, the final auction for The Connaught, which was shut down by the local authority in 2016 amid a murder investigation, is slated for June 20.
