Subaru Corp. named Tomomi Nakamura as the company's new president, Nikkei Asian Review reported Feb. 28. Nakamura, a corporate executive vice president, will assume his new post after a shareholders' meeting in June.
Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, who is currently president, will be the new chairman.
Three out of six internal members of the board of directors, including current chairman Jun Kondo, will step down.
The reshuffling of executives ahead of its schedule in 2019 is part of Subaru's campaign to regain public trust. The Japanese automaker was found to have violated government regulations on safety inspections in 2017, Nikkei reported.
