S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a weekly news summary of executive management and board chair-level changes in the bank and thrift industry.

Jan. 25

Molly Gallaher Flater is founding chairwoman of Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Blue Gate Bank, the first de novo bank to open in Orange County, Calif., since 2009.

David Dotherow leads the organizers of proposed bank Winter Park National Bank; and he is slated to serve as its president and CEO, as well as a director. Fellow organizers James Bolen and Jeffrey Jenkins will be appointed chairman, and executive vice president and CFO of the Winter Park, Fla.-based bank, respectively.

Jan. 24

Township of Washington, N.J.-based Oritani Bank named Jason Wallace senior vice president and chief compliance officer, NJBIZ reported.

Wallace had been Bank Secrecy Act compliance officer for more than a year at the bank, a unit of Oritani Financial Corp.

Little Rock, Ark.-based Bear State Financial Inc. named Jeri Pritchett executive vice president and chief accounting officer.

Pritchett, formerly senior vice president and controller, will take over from Sherri Billings, who will remain as senior executive vice president and CFO.

Princeton, N.J.-based Bank of Princeton Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer Douglas Conover resigned from his posts.

Jan. 23

ChoiceOne Bank promoted Adom Greenland to senior vice president and COO.

He became senior vice president of retail and information technology of the Sparta, Mich.-based bank in 2015.

The bank is a unit of ChoiceOne Financial Services Inc.

Baton Rouge, La.-based Business First Bancshares Inc. and unit Business First Bank promoted a number of executives including Gregory Robertson, who has been named CFO.

Robertson was previously chief banking officer.

In addition, former Business First Bank Chief Information Officer Keith Mansfield was promoted to COO for the bank, and former western region CEO Philip Jordan was named as the bank's chief commercial officer.

Also for the bank, Alicia Robertson was named chief retail officer and Donald Hingle II was named chief credit executive.

Newark, Ohio-based Park National Corp. named Kelly Edds the new chief accounting officer and principal accounting officer of the company, as well as chief accounting officer of its unit, Park National Bank.

Edds, who is a vice president in the accounting department of Park National Bank, will replace Matthew Miller, who was named executive vice president.

Steve Mitchem is set to retire as chief lending officer of Great Southern Bancorp Inc., the parent of Great Southern Bank, in April.

In preparation for Mitchem's retirement, the Springfield, Mo.-based company restructured the lending division into two separate divisions, with John Bugh heading loan production and Kevin Baker leading credit administration.

Irvine, Calif.-based Banc of California Inc. Chairman and CEO Steven Sugarman has resigned.

The company appointed director Robert Sznewajs as its new chairman, Chief Risk Officer Hugh Boyle interim CEO, and Chief Strategy Officer and Principal Officer J. Francisco Turner interim CFO and president.

The bank announced Sugarman's resignation as part of an update on its corporate governance policies and its special committee investigation into allegations made by an anonymous blogger. The company said that the SEC has initiated an investigation into some of the allegations.

Daniel McGill, executive vice president and chief commercial banking officer of Marietta, Ohio-based Peoples Bancorp Inc. and unit Peoples Bank, is retiring, effective March 31. He has held the position since 2009.

The company appointed Douglas Wyatt, executive vice president for commercial banking, as his successor.

First Internet Bancorp and unit First Internet Bank of Indiana named Nicole Lorch COO.

Lorch joined the Fishers, Ind.-based bank in 1999, and most recently was senior vice president of retail banking.

Jan. 20

Ulster Savings Bank's board of trustees named Hadi Salavitabar chairman.

Salavitabar has held various leadership roles and participated in several committees during his almost 12 years as a trustee of Kingston, N.Y.-based Ulster Savings Bank.

Robert Baronner Jr. decided to step down as president and CEO of Potomac Bancshares Inc. and unit Bank of Charles Town because of "significant health issues."

The board of the Charles Town, W.Va.-based company and the bank appointed Arch Moore III acting president and CEO until it names a permanent replacement for Baronner, who will be on a leave of absence.

Bank of Hawaii Corp. Senior Executive Vice President Dean Shigemura will be promoted to CFO from controller.

Vice Chair Kent Lucien, the current CFO, will become chief strategy officer.

Senior Vice President Brent Flygar will be promoted to controller and principal accounting officer, from financial reporting manager and director of corporate tax.

The executive changes will take effect March 1.

Jan. 19

Sulphur Springs, Texas-based Alliance Bank promoted Kevin Monk to executive vice president and COO, according to the website of KSST Radio of Sulphur Springs.

Monk has served as senior operations officer since 2005.

Also, the Alliance Bancshares Inc. unit promoted Ruth Ann Crowson to executive vice president and chief risk officer. Crowson has been with the bank for more than 45 years and is currently a member of its board.

Guaranty Bank & Trust Co. of Delhi elected Albert Christman board chairman, the Richland Beacon-News of Rayville, La., reported.

Christman will also continue as CEO of the Delhi, La.-based bank, a unit of Delhi Bancshares Inc.

James Hopson, who has served as bank chairman for several years, will remain on its board.

In addition, the bank named Troy Richards president. He will also continue to serve as its COO.

Grandpoint Bank appointed Roger Laverty president.

Laverty has been a director of the bank since 2010. He most recently was president and CEO of Farmer Bros. Co.

The Los Angeles-based bank is a unit of Grandpoint Capital Inc.

Raleigh, N.C.-based North State Bank appointed Stacy Reedy CFO.

She will replace Kirk Whorf, who has retired. Reedy previously was senior vice president, general auditor and chief risk officer.

The bank is a unit of North State Bancorp.

Fernandina Beach, Fla.-based CBC National Bank named Mitchell Smith executive vice president and chief credit officer.

Smith most recently was chief credit officer of Albany, Ga.-based HeritageBank of the South, which was acquired by Renasant Corp. in July 2015.

CBC National Bank is a subsidiary of Coastal Banking Co. Inc.

Tampa, Fla.-based HomeBanc NA promoted Timothy Dixon to chief lending officer.

Dixon, who has been with the bank since September 2016, previously served as regional president and product manager for Small Business Administration/U.S. Department of Agriculture loan programs.

The bank is a subsidiary of HomeBancorp Inc.

Laurie Grabow, CFO of Old Point Financial Corp. and unit Old Point National Bank of Phoebus, is retiring in the summer.

The Hampton, Va.-based bank has engaged Kaplan Partners to lead the search for a new CFO.
