Kansai Electric Power fiscal Q2 profit climbs 7.3% YOY

Kansai Electric Power Co. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 amounted to ¥79.51 per share, an increase of 7.3% from ¥74.08 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥71.03 billion, an increase of 7.3% from ¥66.18 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 8.6% from 8.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed year over year to ¥825.13 billion from ¥802.73 billion, and total operating expenses rose on an annual basis to ¥711.05 billion from ¥694.32 billion.

Reported net income increased 5.3% year over year to ¥82.61 billion, or ¥92.47 per share, from ¥78.45 billion, or ¥87.81 per share.

As of Nov. 6, US$1 was equivalent to ¥114.11.
