S&P Global Market Intelligence rounds up notable branch openings and closings over the past week. This wrap excludes certain moves by banks and thrifts with more than $5 billion in assets and certain credit unions.

Mid-Atlantic

Souderton, Pa.-based Univest Bank and Trust Co. filed applications with the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia to open two branches in the state, one at 4240 Oregon Pike in Ephrata, and another at 1135 Georgetown Road in Christiana, according to the state regulator's summary of activities and a Federal Reserve release.

The bank is a unit of Univest Corp. of Pennsylvania.

Philadelphia Federal Credit Union opened a full-service branch in the Torresdale section of Philadelphia, at 3799 Clarendon Ave., according to a press release.

* * *

Newburgh, N.Y.-based Empire State Bank intends to open two branches in the New York City market, one in Staten Island, and another in Brooklyn, according to a press release. The branches are expected to open within the next 15 months.

In addition, the New York State Department of Financial Services in February approved the ES Bancshares Inc. unit's application to open a loan production office at 6408 8th Avenue in Brooklyn. The office is expected to open in April.

Bryn Mawr, Pa., Bryn Mawr Bank Corp., the parent company of Bryn Mawr Trust Co., plans to open an office in Princeton, N.J., focusing on wealth management services, according to a press release.

The OCC approved Esquire Bank NA's application to move its headquarters to 100 Jericho Quadrangle, Suite 100, in Jericho, N.Y., from 320 Old Country Road - Suite 101, in Garden City, N.Y., according to the OCC's website.

The bank is a unit of Esquire Financial Holdings Inc.

Bridge Bancorp Inc. unit Bridgehampton, N.Y.-based Bridgehampton National Bank received the OCC's approval to open a branch at 40 Peconic Avenue, Suite 30, in Riverhead, N.Y.

Lyons Bancorp Inc. unit Lyons, N.Y.-based Lyons National Bank received the OCC's approval to open a branch at 63 Genesee Street, in Auburn, N.Y.

Albany, N.Y.-based Pioneer Savings Bank notified the New York State Department of Financial Services of its plan to close its branch at 148 George Street, in Green Island, N.Y., according to the state regulator's weekly banking bulletin.

New York City-based Amalgamated Bank intends to close its branch at 1745 Broadway, in Manhattan borough, New York City, according to the New York regulator's weekly bulletin.

Midwest

North Bend, Neb.-based Platte Valley Bank, a unit of Platte Valley Bancorp Inc., seeks to obtain the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas' approval to establish a branch at 5721 East 2nd Street, in Casper, Wyo.

East Lansing, Mich.-based Michigan State University Federal Credit Union is set to open a branch in downtown Grand Rapids, Mich., this fall, MLive.com reported.

Specifically, the branch will be located on the ground floor of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield building at 86 Monroe Center NW, according to the report.

Racine, Ohio-based Home National Bank filed an application with the OCC for a branch at 92 North 2nd Avenue, in Middleport, Ohio.

Northeast

The Massachusetts Division of Banks issued non-objection on Greenfield, Mass.-based Greenfield Savings Bank's notices to open two branches in the state, one at 109 North Pleasant Street in Amherst, and another at 207 Main Street in Northampton, according to the state regulator's March activity report.

The bank is a unit of GSB MHC.

Taunton, Mass.-based Bristol County Savings Bank, a unit of Beacon Bancorp, filed a notice with the state regulator to establish a branch at 72 North Water Street, in New Bedford, Mass.

* * *

Cambridge, Mass.-based Cambridge Savings Bank, a unit of Cambridge Financial Group Inc., seeks the state regulator's permission to close its branch at 145 Great Road, in Acton, Mass.

Holyoke, Mass.-based PeoplesBank intends to buy the property located at the corner of Northampton St. and Beech St. in Holyoke, to construct a financial services center.

The PeoplesBancorp MHC subsidiary also plans to close two branches in Holyoke, on South St. and Hamden St., in late 2018, according to a press release.

Camden, Maine-based Camden National Bank, a unit of Camden National Corp., closed its branch at 43 Cottage Street, in Bar Harbor, Maine, according to the OCC's website.

Southeast

Asheville, N.C.-based HomeTrust Bank, a subsidiary of HomeTrust Bancshares Inc., received approval from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond to open a branch at 4140 Parklake Avenue, Suite 610, in Raleigh, N.C., according to a Fed release.

Richmond, Va.-based Essex Bank, a unit of Community Bankers Trust Corp., seeks to receive the Richmond Fed's approval to open a branch at 12254-12256 West Broad Street, in Henrico, Va.

* * *

Albemarle, N.C.-based Uwharrie Bank, a subsidiary of Uwharrie Capital Corp, filed an application with the Richmond Fed to establish a branch at 5231 Piper Station Drive, in Charlotte, N.C.

* * *

Jacksonville, Fla.-based VyStar Credit Union opened branches in Ormond Beach, Port Orange, St. Augustine Beach, and the Springfield area of Jacksonville, all in Florida.

The credit union will also open a branch in Daytona Beach, Fla., in late 2017, according to the credit union's 2016 annual report.

National Bank of Blacksburg, a unit of National Bankshares Inc., opened its first loan production office in downtown Roanoke, Va., according to the Blacksburg, Va.-based company's annual report.

Columbia, Tenn.-based First Farmers and Merchants Bank, a unit of First Farmers and Merchants Corp., held a grand-opening event for its office in downtown Franklin, Tenn. The office is specifically located at 121 First Avenue South, according to a press release.

Coral Gables, Fla.-based Professional Bank, a unit of Professional Holding Corp., opened a loan production office in Boca Raton, Fla., according to a press release.

* * *

Stuart, Fla.-based Seacoast National Bank, a unit of Seacoast Banking Corp. of Florida, notified the OCC that it intends to close two of its branches in Florida at 710 North U.S. Highway 1, in Tequesta, and at 3727 SE Ocean Boulevard, in Stuart.

The OCC approved Miami-based Pacific National Bank's application to open a branch in the Aventura Town Plaza, at 18205 Biscayne Boulevard, in Aventura, Fla.

* * *

Chatsworth, Ga.-based First National Community Bank, a unit of First Chatsworth Bankshares Inc., received the OCC's go signal to open a branch at 415 South Thornton Avenue, in Dalton, Ga.

Southwest

Amarillo, Texas-based Amarillo National Bank, a unit of Amarillo National Bancorp Inc., filed an application with the OCC for a branch at 1936 Texas Avenue, in Lubbock, Texas.

Nacogdoches, Texas-based Commercial Bank of Texas NA, a subsidiary of Nacogdoches Commercial Bancshares Inc., received the OCC's approval to open a branch at 410 E. Lacy Street, in Palestine, Texas.

Canada

Stoney Creek, Canada-based FirstOntario Credit Union Ltd. plans to expand into the Milton region with a branch, according to the credit union's 2016 annual report.
