The Mexican cement producer Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua signed a 10-year agreement with an unnamed electricity supplier to purchase wind and solar energy for its cement plant in Odessa, Texas.
The fixed-price agreement will take effect in July 2022. It represents approximately 22% decrease from the current electricity price for the plant, roughly $4.6 million in total savings through the duration of the contract, and a 100% move to renewable energy, according to press release.
Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua is the producer and supplier of cement and concrete in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
