PJM elects new chair, names new board member

The PJM Interconnection board on May 16 elected Ake Almgren as board chair to succeed retiring chair Howard Schneider.

Schneider has served on the PJM board since 1997 and has served as its chair since 2007.

Almgren has served on the PJM board of managers since 2003. He operates his own consulting company, Orkas Inc., which focuses on new energy technologies.

Separately, Neil Smith was newly elected to the board, while John McNeely Foster and Sarah Rogers were re-elected to three-year terms as board members.

Smith retired as president and CEO of InterGen Inc. in 2016.

Foster previously served as vice president, treasurer and principal accounting officer of the former Compaq Computer Corp. He has been on the PJM board since 2003.

Rogers served as president and CEO of the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council from 2007 until her retirement in 2012. She has been a PJM board member since 2012.
