The Program Guide highlights recent programming announcements from various networks and online video platforms in the U.S.
* Starz (US) ordered a half-hour horror-comedy show called "Shining Vale," which is written and executive produced by Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan, according to a news release. "Shining Vale" follows a dysfunctional family that moves into a small townhouse from the city.
* CBS Corp. renewed its agreement with James Corden, the host of "The Late Late Show," Broadcasting Cable reported. Corden will continue as host of the show until August 2022. The parties did not disclose terms of the deal.
* FX Network (US) will air preliminary Ultimate Fighting Championship matches in September, Variety reported. FX, which is now owned by The Walt Disney Co. following its deal with 21st Century Fox Inc., previously held the rights to UFC until they were acquired by ESPN Inc. in 2018. "With a packed college football schedule on Saturday Sept. 7, we’re excited to have FX – added to the company in the recent 21st Century Fox deal – bring fans the preliminary bouts for UFC 242, while ESPN+ remains the home for the pay-per-view Main Event," a spokesman for ESPN+ reportedly said.

* Crime drama "Instinct," which stars Alan Cumming and Bojana Novakovic, will not be renewed for a third season on CBS (US), Cinema Blend reported. The series finale of the show will air Aug. 25. "Instinct" creator Michael Rauch confirmed the news in a tweet.
* Syfy (US) canceled "Krypton" after two seasons on the network, according to a news release. "Krypton" is a prequel series about Superman's grandfather and takes place years before the birth of the DC character. Syfy will also not proceed with the previously announced "Krypton" spinoff series "Lobo."
* Docuseries "Christina on the Coast," which stars Christina Anstead, has been picked up for a second season by HGTV (US), Deadline reported. The new season will premiere in early 2020 and will focus on Anstead's personal journey with her new husband Ant Anstead and her custom SoCal-inspired designs for clients.

* Netflix Inc. greenlighted "The Upshaws," a new comedy series about a working-class, African American family in Indiana. Regina Hicks will be the series' showrunner and executive producer, Netflix said.
* Upcoming Netflix limited series "Madam CJ Walker" welcomed Bill Bellamy to its fold, Variety reported. The shows, which hails from executive producers LeBron James and Octavia Spencer, tells the story of the black hair care pioneer and mogul.
* The third season of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" will premiere on Amazon.com Inc.'s Prime Video on Dec. 6, Broadcasting Cable reported. The news was also confirmed via the show's official Twitter page.
* Netflix announced its second Danish original series "The Chestnut Man" at the Copenhagen TV Festival. The series, which is based on the debut novel by writer Søren Sveistrup, will debut exclusively on the streaming service worldwide, the company said.
* Warner Media LLC's upcoming streaming service HBO Max picked up an original comedy with the working title of "Let Them All Talk," according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter. The film, directed by Steven Soderbergh, stars Meryl Streep and Gemma Chan.
* In more Netflix news, the streaming giant is working with U.S. filmmaker Kevin Smith to create a new animated "He-Man" series for the streaming platform, Variety reported Smith will be showrunner and executive producer for the new series, dubbed "Masters of the Universe: Revelation."
* Netflix ordered young adult series "Ginny & Georgia," Variety reported. The 10-episode season is scheduled to launch on the streaming platform in 2020.
* AT&T Inc.'s HBO Max and the British Broadcasting Corp.'s BBC Three commissioned a six-part comedy "Starstruck" from Avalon Television Ltd, according to a news release. HBO Max will become the U.S. broadcast partner for the series. The series will follow a millennial in London juggling two dead-end jobs and navigating the awkward morning-after-the-night-before when she discovers the complications of accidentally sleeping with a film star.
