International Business Machines Corp.-owned The Weather Company, LLC and Rogers Media Inc. struck a deal to provide weather information and content specifically customized for Canada.
Pursuant to the deal, The Weather Company will provide in-depth weather data and forecasts, along with curated content, across Roger media properties, this will include localized current condition information and three-day forecasts delivered to the properties via a widget. Additionally, Rogers Media will provide locally relevant articles, photographs and video content across the Canadian versions of The Weather Channel app and website.
The two companies will also collaborate on advertising across their properties, with Rogers leveraging its ad sales capabilities to monetize The Weather Channel properties in Canada. Further, The Weather Company will give national and local marketers access to its data-driven advertising solution, WEATHERfx, across the properties of both companies.
WEATHERfx helps marketers determine the time and place to serve ads by leveraging the impact of weather conditions on emotions to deliver messaging, products and services that could influence a consumer's purchasing habits.
