Insurance moves: McGill hires Willis Towers Watson execs

Al Madina Insurance Co. SAOG's board of directors appointed Hamed Saif Al Siyabi head of compliance and Kashif Ijaz head of internal audit, effective Jan. 5.


Starr Insurance Cos. appointed Paul O'Ryan Canadian territory manager for general aviation, effective Jan. 6.

Starr Insurance is a marketing name for the operating insurance and travel assistance companies and subsidiaries of Starr International Co. Inc.

Property and casualty

Brown & Brown Inc. appointed P. Barrett Brown executive vice president and president of the company's retail segment, effective immediately.

Most recently, Brown served as senior vice president and regional president in the company's retail segment.


Brightway Insurance Inc. named co-founder and CEO Michael Miller to the additional role of president.

Miller replaces Talman Howard as president.

Brightway also appointed Leslie Kolleda-Wright chief of staff and Scott Pollard to replace Kolleda-Wright as vice president for agency growth and development. Pollard was previously director of agency development and carrier relations.

Chip Hyers also joined the company as vice president for sales.


Aston Lark Ltd. appointed Robert Kennedy CEO and Mark Nolan CFO in Ireland, effective March 2020, subject to regulatory approval, Reinsurance News reported.

Kennedy most recently served as head of sales and distribution at Aviva Ireland Ltd., while Nolan served as financial controller at AA Ireland Ltd..

Both Kennedy and Nolan are set to join the boards of Robertson Low Insurances Ltd. and Wright Insurance Brokers, both of which were acquired by Aston Lark.


McGill & Partners Ltd. appointed senior aviation brokers Paul Barney and Peter Gilson to its aerospace division, The Insurance Insider reported.

Barney and Gilson previously worked at Willis Towers Watson PLC as executive directors.


H.W. International appointed Martin Kelsh board director and head of the international nonmarine team of its London operation, H.W. Wood Ltd.

Kelsh will also lead the company's expansion and hiring in the insurance market.

H.W. International is a privately held, independent global insurance brokerage.


PEMCO Mutual Insurance Co. appointed Jesús Hernandez and Chris Wheaton to the PEMCO board of directors for two-year terms, effective Jan. 3.

Hernandez is CEO of Family Health Centers while Wheaton is CFO of BSquare Corp.


Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC, a business of Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., appointed Jeff Saper CEO of the Pacific region, with immediate effect.

Saper will be based in Sydney and will report to Asia-Pacific CEO Tony Gallagher.


Capsicum Reinsurance Brokers LLP, which does business as Capsicum Re, appointed David Bell to lead its newly launched aviation reinsurance team.

Bell is based in London and reports to Matt FitzGerald, managing partner of the London property and specialty division.

Bell previously worked as global head of aerospace at American International Group Inc.


Mike Karmilowicz was appointed executive vice president of Everest Insurance and president of Everest Insurance North America P&C.

Karmilowicz most recently served as senior vice president of Everest Insurance and president of Everest Specialty Underwriters.

Everest Insurance is the specialty insurance division of Everest Re Group Ltd.
