United Insurance estimates pretax net retained cat losses at $46M for Q3

United Insurance Holdings Corp. projects about $46 million of net retained catastrophe losses, pretax, for the third quarter.

The losses are expected to be incurred from Tropical Storm Barry, Tropical Storm Imelda and Hurricane Dorian, as well as increased retention from nontropical events related to the company's aggregate reinsurance program.

Also, United Insurance anticipates roughly $15 million of adverse reserve development, pretax, due to catastrophe losses in previous accident years.
