Tom de Swaan has been nominated chairman of ABN AMRO Group NV's supervisory board.
The Dutch lender said May 25 that the board proposed to appoint de Swaan to the board for four years. Following approval at the company's extraordinary general meeting, de Swaan will be appointed chairman of the group and of unit ABN AMRO Bank NV, subject to regulatory approval.
De Swaan was previously chairman of Zurich Insurance Group AG. He will take over from Steven ten Have, who has been serving as acting chairman of ABN AMRO Group since Feb. 5.
Ten Have took over from the group's previous chairman, Olga Zoutendijk, after the latter decided not to run for a second term following criticism over her leadership style.
