ENGIE, SUEZ team up to develop 1,000 MW of solar energy in France

French energy provider ENGIE SA and France-headquartered water and waste management solutions provider SUEZ SA have partnered up to help France with its energy transition by installing approximately 1,000 MW of photovoltaic solar capacity at recycling and recovery waste storage sites across the country's mainland.

The companies plan to construct the solar projects at about 100 sites where SUEZ is already generating energy at biogas power plants, they said in a March 6 news release.

Under this partnership, the companies will debut a 12-MW solar project at the Drambon storage facility in the Côte-d'Or department this year. ENGIE will design, build and operate the solar facilities.

Through this partnership, ENGIE said it will continue to pursue its target of 2,200 MW of functioning solar power and 3,000 MW of wind power by 2021.
