CuDeco suspends processing plant at Rocklands copper mine

CuDeco Ltd. said Dec. 1 that it temporarily suspended processing plant operations at the Rocklands copper mine in Queensland, Australia, on the orders of the Department of Natural Resources & Mines.

The department issued the directive following a Nov. 30 investigation that identified a number of issues with the process plant.

The plant will remain in suspension pending further review of the mine's Site Safety and Health Management System, or SHMS, and its implementation to ensure compliance under the relevant regulations.

CuDeco Chairman Peter Hutchison said the company would ensure all necessary efforts are made to address the issues raised by the authorities.

"We will be working closely with the Department to complete the review of the mine's SHMS and procedures as quickly as possible, to address any defects and ensure they are addressed to the fullest extent possible," Hutchison added.
