Gulf Manganese Corp. Ltd.'s Indonesian subsidiary, PT Gulf Mangan Grup, agreed to purchase an initial 100 tonnes of high-grade manganese ore and entered into a memorandum of understanding for its ongoing supply with PT Arfa Indo Sarana.
The initial parcel will be transported to the port of Bau Bau in Sulawesi in November and then shipped to the Port of Tenau in Kupang. It will undergo a quality analysis in Kupang before export to Gulf's customers.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Kupang approved 17 mining permits allowing local miners to restart manganese production.
The company is in negotiations with a number of these miners to secure further manganese ore supply partners, it said Oct. 24.
PT Gulf Mangan holds a direct-shipping ore license to export up to 103,162 tonnes of high-grade manganese ore per year.
Gulf recently acquired the Putra Indonesia Jaya high-grade manganese mine in Timor, Indonesia, through Indonesian and Singaporean partners to secure ore supply to its Kupang smelter in the country.
