Ajinomoto fiscal Q3 profit climbs 16.0% YOY

Ajinomoto Co. Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, came to ¥25.69 per share, a gain of 20.0% from ¥21.41 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥15.21 billion, a gain of 16.0% from ¥13.11 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 5.8% from 5.1% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased year over year to ¥263.82 billion from ¥255.24 billion, and total operating expenses rose on an annual basis to ¥238.85 billion from ¥233.94 billion.

Reported net income increased 28.4% from the prior-year period to ¥19.10 billion, or ¥32.26 per share, from ¥14.87 billion, or ¥24.28 per share.

As of Feb. 13, US$1 was equivalent to ¥118.68.
