Michael Bär launches merchant bank in Switzerland

Michael Bär has established a new Switzerland-based lender, MBaer Merchant Bank AG, some 14 years after he left Julius Bär Gruppe AG, the banking group established by his family.

The new bank received a license from the Swiss finance watchdog Finma on Dec. 7. It will specialize in serving family entrepreneurs.

Bär resigned as head of of Julius Bär's private banking business in 2004.
