China Hongqiao operating as normal after Typhoon Lekima

China Hongqiao Group Ltd is operating as normal after Typhoon Lekima triggered floods and landslides in its home province of Shandong, Reuters reported Aug. 12.

The company told the newswire in an email that there was flooding outside of its facilities but no actual damage was reported, adding that it has numerous preemptive measures that allowed operations to continue normally.

The statement was seemingly contrary to the one made by Weiqiao Pioneering, which is owned by the same Zhang family that owns China Hongqiao, which said flood levels in one of China Hongqiao's plants reached up to two meters and production at a separate facility was suspended.

China Hongqiao, the world's top aluminum producer, has an annual production capacity of 6.46 million tonnes.
