Big Screen Entertainment Group Inc. on March 20 launched its own content distribution service named Big Screen Streaming.
The new service will offer access to content from Big Screen as well as from its partners and affiliates. It will initially rely on advertising for revenue, although Big Screen is looking at other revenue streams such as subscriptions, pay-per-view and content purchases through the use of additional media libraries.
At launch, the streaming site will be accessible through a channel on Roku Inc.'s platform, a mobile app and a desktop portal. It will become a separate division of Big Screen, with Camelcode managing its platform.
Along with its own over-the-top service, Big Screen still intends to continue releasing new content on Netflix Inc., Hulu LLC and Amazon.com Inc.'s streaming platform.
U.S.-based Big Screen specializes in film production, content distribution and global sales.
