DISH Q4'17 revenue falls 7.2% YOY, income tax benefit recorded

DISH Network Corp. on Feb. 21 reported a year-over-year gain in fourth-quarter 2017 net income attributable to the company to $1.39 billion, or $2.64 per share, from net income of $355.0 million, or 73 cents per share.

The GAAP S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate for the quarter was 54 cents. The quarterly net income was positively impacted by an income tax benefit of about $1.2 billion due to an adjustment to deferred tax assets and liabilities related to tax reform legislation, and negatively impacted by an impairment of long-lived assets expense of $112 million, net of related taxes.

Revenue for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2017, was $3.48 billion, down 7.2% year over year from $3.75 billion.
