Avesoro Resources Inc. said Aug. 9 that it suspended all processing and mining operations at the Youga gold mine in Burkina Faso after conducting an updated risk assessment on a security breach.
The mine was sealed after a security guard killed an intruder and locals attacked the site to retaliate, Reuters reported.
Avesoro said CEO Serhan Umurhan traveled to Youga with the mine's general manager to assess the situation and determine when operations can resume. Government security forces will remain on-site to protect the assets.
