Ecolab Inc. said its normalized net income for the second quarter came to 92 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $1.08 per share.
EPS rose year over year from 89 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $276.4 million, an increase from $272.0 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 8.2% from 7.6% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue decreased 5.0% on an annual basis to $3.39 billion from $3.57 billion, and total operating expenses decreased 6.1% year over year to $2.87 billion from $3.06 billion.
Reported net income fell year over year to $301.1 million, or $1 per share, from $311.3 million, or $1.02 per share.
