Netflix appoints former ABC Entertainment president as VP of original content

Channing Dungey, the former president of Walt Disney Co.'s ABC Entertainment Group, is joining Netflix Inc. as vice president of original content.

Dungey is expected to start working at the streaming giant in February 2019 and will report to Cindy Holland, who is also a vice president of original content, Netflix said in a Dec. 17 news release.

Both Dungey and Holland will collaborate on setting Netflix's strategic direction as well as overseeing the company's overall deals with various producers, including Shonda Rhimes, Jenji Kohan, Kenya Barris, Steven DeKnight, Marti Noxon and Higher Ground Productions, among others.
