Coca-Cola elects new president/COO

Coca-Cola Co. said Oct. 18 its board of directors has elected Brian Smith as president and COO, effective Jan. 1, 2019.

Smith is currently the president of the company's Europe, Middle East and Africa division. He will report to CEO James Quincey in the new role.

In addition, John Murphy has been appointed as the senior vice president and deputy CFO of the Georgia-based company, effective Jan. 1, 2019.

Murphy, who currently serves the company as the president of its Asia Pacific group, will be promoted to executive vice president and CFO on March 16, 2019.

Kathy Waller, who is the current executive vice president, CFO and president of Coca-Cola's Enabling Services, is retiring from the company.

The soft drink giant said Nancy Quan will become the senior vice president and chief technical officer, effective Jan. 1, 2019. Quan, who is the company's vice president and chief technical officer of Coca-Cola North America, will report to Quincey in the new role. Quan will replace Ed Hays, who will retire March 31, 2019.

Barry Simpson, Coca-Cola's senior vice president and chief information officer, will expand his duties to oversee a portion of the company's Enabling Services division, effective Jan. 1, 2019. Simpson's new title will be chief information and integrated services officer.
