Eurozone retail sales dropped by a seasonally adjusted rate of 1.1% in October, compared to a revised 0.8% growth in September, Eurostat said.
In the 12 months ending in October, the eurozone's calendar-adjusted retail sales index advanced by 0.4%.
The monthly drop is due to food, drinks and tobacco declining by 1.3%, non-food products falling by 1.1% and automotive fuel edging down by 0.1%.
The annual gain is due to non-food products advancing by 0.6%, automotive fuel going up by 0.3% and food, drinks and tobacco rising by 0.2%.
