The Canadian Competition Bureau cleared the proposed €46 billion merger between Essilor International Société Anonyme and Luxottica Group SpA.
Canada is one of five jurisdictions where antitrust approvals are a condition for the closing of the deal. The proposed merger has also been cleared in ten other jurisdictions, including Australia and New Zealand.
Meanwhile, the European Commission recently halted a probe into the proposed combination because the two companies have not yet provided the necessary data.
