EDF Renewables Inc. North America signed a 20-year power contract with CleanPowerSF for a 100-MW portion of the Palen solar facility known as the Maverick 6 solar project.
The California project is expected to come online by the end of 2021.
Other power purchase agreements awarded for the Palen solar project include a 125-MWac tranche with Southern California Edison Co.; a 100-MWac tranche with Shell Energy North America (US) LP; and a 132-MWac tranche with Shell Energy.
EDF Renewables is a subsidiary of Electricité de France SA, SoCalEd is a unit of Edison International, and Shell Energy is ultimately owned by Royal Dutch Shell PLC.
CleanPowerSF is a nonprofit program launched in 2016 and operated by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. It currently serves more than 376,000 customers in San Francisco.
