Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. unit Wollongong Coal Ltd. received a notice of withdrawal in connection with an industrial action at the company's Wongawilli colliery in New South Wales, Australia.
The strike was related to a proposed enterprise agreement between the labor-hire contractor and its employees, and the company was not a party to the dispute.
The protected labor action that started Jan. 14 ended Jan. 17 after an amicable resolution of the dispute, the company said Jan. 15.
"We have offered to assist and support the labor hire contractor in meeting the contract miners' demands to ensure the dispute comes to an early resolution and miners are not severely financially impacted as a result of a lengthy strike," said Wollongong COO Wayne Sly.
