Amazon.com Inc. will create 2,500 permanent jobs in the U.K. this year as the e-commerce giant shores up its British operations.
In a June 6 release, the company said it is hiring for vacancies in its head office and fashion photography studio in London, its development centers in Cambridge, Edinburgh and London, and its customer service center in Edinburgh. It will also hire new people in its delivery stations across the country and 16 fulfillment centers, including the new sites in Coventry and Bolton.
In addition to full-time jobs, Amazon will also hire graduates, interns and apprentices to work in a variety of roles. The e-commerce giant expects to raise the number of its U.K. employees to 27,500 by the end of 2018.
Amazon said the new jobs reflect growing investments in British research and development, increasing customer demand, and continued expansion of its products and services. It has invested more than £9.3 billion in its U.K. operations since 2010, according to the release.
