Pennsylvania American Water completes $50M water treatment plant

Pennsylvania American Water Co. Inc. on Aug. 2 said it has completed the $50 million Ellwood water treatment plant in New Beaver Borough, Pa.

The facility will start serving approximately 18,000 customers in southern Lawrence and Butler counties and northeastern Beaver County, Pa., in the week of Aug. 5, according to a company news release. The plant has increased production capacity, compared to the 110-year-old Ellwood water treatment facility, which had reached the end of its life-span.

Orleans, Ind.-based Reynolds Construction LLC acted as the project's primary contractor and Pittsburgh-based Mascaro Construction as the subcontractor.

Pennsylvania American Water is a subsidiary of American Water Works Co. Inc.
