Savannah Resources PLC said Sept. 25 that it outlined a maiden co-product resource estimate for the Grandao deposit, part of the Mina do Barroso lithium project in Portugal, of 14.4 million tonnes grading 33.4% quartz and 42.6% feldspar.
Contained byproducts outlined under the measured, indicated and inferred categories totaled 4.79 Mt of quartz and 6.11 Mt of feldspar.
The London-listed junior explorer said the quartz and feldspar co-product estimate is contained within the existing lithium resource model. The resource estimate is expected to expand when the calculations for the other deposits are included.
On top of the sale of lithium spodumene concentrates, the byproduct resource is seen as an additional income stream for the operation. The company is holding talks for potential off-take and joint venture partners to fast-track Grandao's co-product opportunity.
