Comcast Corp. unveiled a commercial-free, on-demand movie service, called Hitz.
The service will be part of Xfinity Premier, Super and other TV packages at no additional cost, and will feature more than 200 movies from a variety of studios.
The new service will replace Cinemax (US) and its associated channels.
"While Cinemax is being removed from these packages, we believe the new lineup offers a better value," Comcast said. "Most of the movies on Cinemax have also aired on HBO. By offering Hitz instead, we’ll be delivering a better variety of content."
Comcast noted that although Cinemax will no longer be included in the packages being adjusted, the network will still be available to purchase separately for $12 per month.
