KFC Japan fiscal Q1 loss widens YOY

KFC Holdings Japan Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 amounted to a loss of ¥3.06 per share, compared with a loss of ¥2.95 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of ¥68.8 million, compared with a loss of ¥66.3 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to negative 0.4% from negative 0.3% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue fell on an annual basis to ¥18.84 billion from ¥19.04 billion, and total operating expenses decreased from the prior-year period to ¥18.98 billion from ¥19.18 billion.

Reported net income came to a loss of ¥179.0 million, or a loss of ¥7.98 per share, compared to a loss of ¥164.0 million, or a loss of ¥7.31 per share, in the year-earlier period.

As of Aug. 8, US$1 was equivalent to ¥101.85.
