ICU Medical recalling infusion sets used for insulin delivery due to leakage

ICU Medical Inc. is recalling multiple lots of its Plum and Sapphire infusion sets, which connect an insulin pump to the body, due to leakage of fluid from the air vents.

The San Clemente, Calif.-based company started the recall July 29 and has asked customers to quarantine all affected products and return them to Stericycle— a company that specializes in the collection and disposal of regulated substances, such as medical waste, pharmaceuticals, hazardous waste as well as recalled and expired goods.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is currently evaluating information to classify the recall.
