Total SA subsidiary Total E&P do Brasil Ltda. awarded a contract to Subsea 7 SA for further development of the deepwater Lapa northeast oil field located in Brazil's Santos Basin.
The work includes the transport, installation and pre-commissioning of 35 kilometers of flexible pipelines and 20 kilometers of umbilical, connecting five wells to the floating production storage and offloading vessel Cidade de Caraguatatuba, according to a Sept. 2 news release from Subsea 7.
Offshore activities will commence in the fourth quarter of 2019.
The contract is valued between $50 million and $150 million.
In December 2016, the field came on stream through the Cidade de Caraguatatuba vessel with a 100,000-barrel-per-day capacity. Lapa had a production capacity of about 30,000 barrels per day, as reported by former project operator Petróleo Brasileiro SA in December 2018.
Total holds a 45% stake in the project, while Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda. owns a 30% interest and Repsol Sinopec Brasil SA holds a 25% stake.
