Lloyds Banking Group launches service to help financial, domestic abuse victims

Lloyds Banking Group PLC launched a specialist customer support service to help victims of financial, economic and domestic abuse.

The group is also changing its terms and conditions to allow a party to be removed from a joint account in cases where one of the account holders has been a victim of financial abuse.

The service will be available to customers of the group and its U.K.-based banking units. The service will provide customers financial guidance and direct them to specialist charities for emotional and practical support, with the aim to regain control of their finances in cases of abuse, as well as financial issues like managing joint accounts, selecting which new account to open and offering advice on dealing with debt.

The support service team has been specially trained to understand and recognize the issues that are not always apparent on the surface, and then guide the customers accordingly.

Lloyds Banking Group is working in partnership with Lloyds Bank Foundation, Tender and Surviving Economic Abuse charities on the service.
