Edgewell Personal Care profit misses consensus by 42.9% in fiscal Q3

Edgewell Personal Care Co. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended June 30 amounted to 45 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 78 cents per share.

EPS climbed 30.8% year over year from 34 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $26.7 million, an increase of 25.6% from $21.3 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 4.1% from 3.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue declined year over year to $645.1 million from $672.9 million, and total operating expenses fell 6.8% year over year to $575.9 million from $618.0 million.

Reported net income totaled $36.4 million, or 61 cents per share, compared to a loss of $67.8 million, or a loss of $1.09 per share, in the prior-year period.
