Nuclear update: US output slips as River Bend 1 shuts

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability ticked lower early Feb. 2 to 97.12%, down from 97.42% on Feb. 1, but still much higher than the 95.27% reported on the same day a year ago.

Pulling down total output was the unexpected loss of Entergy Corp.'s River Bend 1 in Louisiana. The unit was taken offline from 27% power on Feb. 1.

Aside from the aforementioned River Bend 1, Entergy's Grand Gulf 1 in Mississippi also remains offline as of early Feb. 2.
