Scatec Solar ASA was awarded three solar projects in Tunisia with a total capacity of about 360 MW, after an international tender initiated by the Tunisian Ministry of Industry and SMEs in early 2019.
The Norwegian solar developer will build a 60-MW project in Tozeur, a 60-MW project in Sidi Bouzid and a 240-MW facility in Tataouine, according to a Dec. 17 company news release.
Expected to produce roughly 830 GWh of electricity per year, the projects will sell their output to Société Tunisienne de l'Electricité et du Gaz under 20-year power contracts.
Scatec will be the lead equity investor in the projects. It will undertake engineering, procurement and construction, as well as providing operation and maintenance and asset management services to the facilities.
