Zions Bancorp beats analyst Q3 EPS estimate

Salt Lake City-based Zions Bancorp NA reported third-quarter net earnings applicable to common shareholders of $214 million, or $1.17 per share, compared to $215 million, or $1.04 per share, reported a year earlier.

The S&P Global Market Intelligence consensus GAAP EPS estimate for the third quarter was $1.08.

Total deposits were $56.14 billion in the third quarter, compared to $54.33 billion in the second quarter and $53.79 billion in the third quarter of 2018.

Net interest margin for the third quarter was 3.48%, down from 3.54% in the linked quarter and 3.63% in the year-ago quarter.

The bank's provision for credit losses was $10 million for the quarter. The bank recorded a negative provision for credit loss of $11 million in the year-ago quarter.
