The Wednesday Express: Senate advances Dodd-Frank revamp bill into debate

* In a 67-32 vote, the Dodd-Frank revision bill advanced into debate. Aside from the 12 Senate Democrats and one Independent who co-sponsored the bill, four additional Senate Democrats voted in favor of moving the bipartisan bill into debate.

* Claremore, Okla.-based RCB Holding is acquiring Hutchinson, Kan.-based Central Bank and Trust, Wellington (Kan.) Daily News reports.

* Fintech firm S&P Global is buying machine intelligence company Kensho Technologies for about $550 million, net of cash acquired, for a mix of cash and stock.

* Wells Fargo Securities is suing Chicago-based fund manager LJM Partners for allegedly missing required margin payments, Reuters reports. The Wells Fargo unit seeks to recover $16.4 million from LJM, which is facing closure, the report adds.

* Two House Financial Services subcommittees will hold hearings on a legislative review of the State Insurance Regulation Preservation Act and legislative proposals to reform the current data security and breach notification regulatory regime.

* According to Moody's, the impact of the U.S. tax law is credit positive for U.S.-based insurance companies, boosting profitability and making them more competitive with their global counterparts.

* The White House wants the ObamaCare stabilization bill to include three policies — one that would allow short-term insurance plans, one that would allow older people to be charged five times as much in premiums as younger people, and another that would expand health savings accounts, The Hill reports, citing an administration memo.
