Arequest for proposalsfor biomass generation has been issued by the Maine Public Utilities Commissionto help save the state's struggling biomass and forest industries. Proposalsare due by July 29.
Updates
TheColorado Public Utilities Commission on June 28 's 29.5-MW communitysolar project after reconsidering a settlement the utility reached with threesolar companies to build it.
InMarch, the commission rejected the settlement due to the PUC's concern thatXcel Energy had agreed to a price of 3 cents per kWh for the RECs, a price thatwas higher than the bid prices the developers offered in the utility's 2015request for proposals. The commission had also questioned the method fordetermining customer bill credits for the program.
TheCalifornia Public Utilities Commission proposeda resolution for its July 14 meeting to order toaward renewable energy contracts to more bidders even though they did not makea competitive price cut-off.
ThePUC said SDG&E has a 62%, or 102 MW, shortfall in meeting the PUC'srenewable auction mechanism, or RAM, targets. SDG&E was required to procure164.7 MW over six RAM auctions, but has procured only 62.7 MW, the commissionsaid.
Deadline
,on behalf of AEP Ohio, concluded on July 13 a from companieswho are developing solar energy projects and are interested in participating ina potential procurement process. AEP Ohio, the trade name of utility Ohio Power Co.,has committed to propose new solar projects totaling 400 MW in Ohio.
AEPService on June 22 concludedan RFI on behalf of AEP Ohio seeking information from interested participantsof a future RFP to obtain wind energy sources that are 20 MW or greater than incapacity through power purchase agreements. AEP Ohio has committed to proposenew wind projects totaling 500 MW in Ohio.
Looking ahead
Ontario'spower grid operator is seekinginput from electricity providers on providing regulation servicesto ensure balance on its system if and when unexpected events occur. TheIndependent Electricity System Operator, or IESO, has issued a request forinformation to entities that could provide the balancing service.
