Unilever rolls out organic snacks in US

Consumer goods manufacturer Unilever PLC said March 6 that it launched an organic food brand called Growing Roots, marking the company's entry into the U.S. organic snack market.

The Growing Roots line features snack bites made of coconut, corn, and seed clusters flavored with chocolate and chipotle peppers; pineapple, rum and cinnamon; maple syrup and nutmeg; and coconut and curry, which includes a combination of turmeric and lemongrass.

The initiative is an expansion of Unilever's urban farming efforts in the U.S. as each product purchase will support these projects.

The items will be available in ShopRite stores in the Northeast U.S. in March with plans of expanding to more retailers, including Amazon.com Inc., across the U.S. in 2018.
