FuelCell Energy Inc. signed an option agreement for a landfill energy development project with Orange County in Newport Beach, Calif.
Under the agreement, FuelCell Energy has an exclusive right to develop the gas at the Coyote Canyon landfill as a source of renewable biofuel. The company said in a Jan. 8 news release that it expects the agreement to culminate in the negotiation and execution of a landfill gas delivery and site license agreement.
FuelCell Energy plans to install operating systems that will generate renewable electricity and renewable hydrogen and will supply between 1,200 to 2,400 kg daily to the Los Angeles fuel cell vehicle market in late 2020.
